I want to add a horizontal menu navigational bar (similiar to the one at the top of each page) to the bottom of each page.

That is exactly what I do with Fetch. I’ve tried upload just the style.css file and I tried uploading the entire file folder. When I go to Themes there is no child theme there to upload. Hence my frustration. I don’t what else to do.

You are running Mac correct? when you upload your files using Fetch are they uploaded? Can you see them on your server?

If this process is not working for you, do you have access to your server? Does your server have Cpanel or something similar? If you can and they do, try uploading the files to the server using the aforementioned mentioned method.

    Kind regards

Thank you sooo much for being so patient with me and hanging in there. For me it’s very very late and I have been at this all day. I will have to start again tomorrow.
Thank you and Kind regards to you too.

You are welcome and it is my pleasure to help you.

I missed your first message above – Yes they are there, I can see them on the server.

    What browser are you using?

    Safari

Clear the cache on your browser.

Can you tell me what file permissions have you given to the files you uploaded to the folder “child theme”?

The folder should be set to = 755

the files should be set to = 644

    Let me know.

The permissions are not in #s but letters – ‘rwx r-x r-x’

I don’t understand what you mean by these permissions.

Perhaps it would help if you reviewed Changing_File_Permissions?

Thanks you so much for answering that. Yes that is what they are set to.
Esmi do you have any suggestions. It’s not like I’m new to computers, internet. But I’m truly stumped here – I am new to programming.

Did you download the basic child theme I mentioned previously?

Yes I did upload the file to my child theme folder just as you sent it – no changes. But it was not available as a theme on my Themes page. The files are there but no theme available for selection to activate.
