Adding a facebook button to blog page

  • First question: I use the Twenty Ten template and visitors to the posts page

    can already add their comments without logging in etc. This may be very naive of me, but what would be the advantage of adding a facebook button.
    Second question.In scouring the webifor how to do this, the more understandable solution (for a novece like myself) seems to acquire a code from facebook (I skip details. Upon doing this I fiund this explanation

  • Adding a facebook button allows people to be linked to their comments. I do it with facebook, google+, and twitter

    I also allow people to just comment, without logging in. Some people just like to link a profile to their comments.

    Is telltale, it says BLOGGER, blogger is not WordPress, so those instructions are not applicable.

    Thank you Rev. Voodoo for your answer. At least you have lifted one layer of fog regarding my confusion about “BLOGGER”.
    Should you know of a site with reasonably understandable explanations on how to add the facebook button on a site constructed using the Twenty Ten Template, I’d be grateful of you let me know

    Thank you so much Ipstenu. I think I followed your instructions to the letter. That is, I took the first part of the code (Javascript SDK) generated as you said and pasted it in the Posts page. The instructions say that the it should be placed immediately after the body tag. However in the page proper when reached via the dashboard there appear to be no HTML code. Still I placed it and (thankfully) I did no harm….
    Then I pasted the second part of the code in the widget area called “recent posts”. When I did a ‘save’ the code instantly disappeared.
    I do not see the “Facebook button” on the Posts page. Clearly I have done something wrong. I feel already satisfied that I have not destroyed anything – but if you have a diagnosis other than my thick headedness, and if it does not take too long please let me know.     There is another way that works very well on 2010 and 2011 themes.

    I will warn, the setup is a bit advanced. But the provided instructions are very good.

    With that plugin fully configured, you can do all sorts of nifty facebook stuff. A like button in your sidebar, one under each post, allow users to comment on your site using their facebook, etc. It might be a lot more than what you are looking for, but it’s a great option. (I use it on all my sites)
