    Hello,

First off, many thanks to Phil for this plugin! It’s allowing us to integrate our Google Calendar events much more nicely onto our website than Google’s own iframe embedding.

One of the big advantages of using Google Calendar (GCal) for our organisation is that a large part of our membership uses GCal themselves and add our calendars to their GCal account/interface.

Previously, we used the iframe-based embed option on the GCal website. This has a “+ Google Calendar” button in the lower left that opens up the GCal website and allows the user to add this calendar to their interface.

Is there any way to add this link via the plugin? If not, I think this would be a good, if small, addition for it: add a checkbox in the feed options (and widget/shortcode options) to add a link to the main calendar. Perhaps give direct or indirect styling options (font size and left/right justify).

Right now, for the widget we’re using a text widget immediately after the plugin, along with some fine CSS selectors, to create a small right-justified link to the GCal feed immediately after the calendar display. For shortcode embedding onto pages, we’re just manually putting the link in.

    Thanks,

    Best regards,

    Laogeodritt

Hey I think this is a similar question posted here:

Does any of that help you achieve your goal?

Hi Nick, thanks for the reply. (Oops, did I get your name wrong earlier? Looking back I have no idea where I got ‘Phil’ from. Sorry!)

The problem in the linked thread is an add to Google/iCal export for each independent event (where the Event Builder can be used). In this case we’d like to just link to the Calendar as a whole, to add our calendar to the user’s own list of calendars (“Other Calendars” on the GCal page).

Like I mentioned, we have it working with an external text widget for the sidebar containing a link, and just a manual link on the pages that contain the calendar shortcode. This solution is fine for us.

I mentioned this as a feature request because I thought it might be a nice convenience, and one that may be useful to a good proportion of users, to have it as an option to automatically generate that link before/after the events display (calendar, list, etc.) itself, rather than placing it manually.

Actually it’s no problem at all. Phil is the owner of the plugin I just help out with the development and support of it, so no worries there ??

I see how your request is different than the linked one now. I would encourage you to submit it as an official feature request here:

    https://philderksen.com/google-calendar-events-feature-requests/

This will help us keep track of it and get it added in queue to work on at some point.

    Thanks!
