adding a cookie for the new address to use?

Your plugin works awesome. I wanted to figure out where I could add a little line that would add a cookie before redirecting so the new page can show a message telling the user they have been redirected. I dont want to use _GET for SEO reasons. Its just one generic cookie for all redirects.
