adding a class to past events (eg in month view)

I use this plugin because apart from the odd foible it has great strengths, however I would like to reduce the prominence of past events in the month view – ‘today’ is well marked but people can still overlook that. Has anyone found a way of greying out all past events in views? Straightforward if a class can be added to them, but how to do that….
