Hi, I like the plugin. It works great. I have an issue though when entering the same citation twice in a text. The plugin seems to count every citation as a ‘new’ entry and thus continues to increment the reference number.

Is there a way I can add a citation twice, but keep the number of the first occurrence? If not possible, perhaps it is an option to overrule the citation number manually and add in a citation number by shortcode.

The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

Thanks for posting about this use case – I’ll look and see if I can get this implemented!

This is now done in the latest version of the plugin. You can specify a referencenumber attribute to the shortcode that will manually override the default:

[mfn referencenumber=”5″]This will have a citation number of 5 regardless of where it appears in the document[/mfn]

Excellent, appreciate that. Will give it a try!
