• Help!

    I was trying some plugins, and got to “Sucuri Sitecheck Malware Scanner”

    Now every time I try to bring up the dashboard, I get a memory crash with this error message:

    Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 41943040 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12288 bytes) in /data01/c1422527/public_html/wp-admin/includes/class-wp-screen.php on line 926

    My immediate thought is can I remove the plugin manually in some way, but perhaps there is something else I can try?

    Apart from that the web site as viewed by a normal visitor seems to be working…

  • If you can get into the backend, just disable the plugin.
    If you can NOT get into the backend, use FTP or your cPanel’s file manager and go to the wp-content/plugins folder and delete the folder for that plugin.

    Thanks – I can’t start the dashboard, not sure what you mean by the back end?

    Anyway, just tried the delete by FTP route, and it worked a treat. Thanks for a clear explanation, I was not sure if it was safe to just delete a folder like that.

    backend = dashboard
    Front end = what visitors see

    Ah, that clears it up, vocabulary duly noted!
