• I am trying to add widgets to my footer area, using a child theme for omega. My site is goldlionstyle.com
and I would like to be able to use wordpress widgets such as an instagram snap widget or perhaps embed a pinterest board in the footer area where it says “Design by Tristan Davidson
? 2016 Gold Lion Style. Terms of Use.”

I notice the Omega stylesheet has a section defined “Footer Widgets” so this leads me to believe footer widgets are written into the theme…I hope I’m not missing something obvious. I would be thankful for any help!!

  • In Dashboard menu, go to “Appearance > Widgets” and see if there is a section titled “Footer Widgets”

There is no section for footer widgets, only “Primary” which is my primary sidebar

I just wanted to follow up and see if anyone else might have some suggestions to help me enable widgets in my footer?

Use this Omega child theme with footer widgets is the best way to keep your Omega Parent theme up to date.

    Hi,

I am using my own child theme and would prefer not to change. How can I incorporate footer widgets into my own child theme? I know there must be a bit of coding to do which I am capable of, just haven’t figured out exactly what to do yet.

I see that you have been able to edit the footer. Were you able to add widgets?
