Add user roles to Account page

I am helping to maintain a website at a university in Iowa. I have been asked to add the list of user roles for a logged in user to the Account page( as an unordered list or table). From my researching, it seems to involve making calls to both wordpress functions and PHP functions. I cannot find how to call these functions on the Account page…it allows for adding javascript using the <script></script> tags, but it will not accept <?php> tags..

I would grateful for any help and/or direction this forum could offer!
