Add two lines of text to a header?

    Hi folks,

    I’m new to WordPress and to this forum, so apologies in advance if I say something daft, or don’t follow forum etiquette…

    I’d like to add two lines of text to my header. Basically I’d like something another line of text to appear (in slightly smaller text) above my main title.

    I thought about creating a child header.php file and trying to do it there, but looking elsewhere I see that this is not a great idea (especially for a newbie…).

    Any help would be amazing. Thanks!
