If you go to ‘Members Area’ that is where to login. I forgot to say when I log in as admin all works ok. It is when a visitor visits the shop it all hangs.

Yes that is because you had logged in.
If you log out and try to make a purchase it will hang.

Visitors to the site do not need to log in. Only to visit the ‘members area’

Is it all working if you remove the Clean Login plugin?

Solved! Unchecking admin access from Clean Login options. It’s due to wp-ecommerce makes an internal and temporal access to administrator options.
