add to cart button is not working for variable product!

    hi i have created a custom woocommerce theme integrating html content to it,
    whenever i select options for variable product and click on add to cart the page get refreshed and the item is not added to the cart! whereas its not the case for the simple product the simple product add to cart work just fine.
    please help i have read many threads and articles but nothing works! pls help
