    Hello,

I am testing my site using a popular SEO tool and among the SEO issues discovered, there is one that relates to pages that are blocked from appearing in search engines. There is a list of about 400 pages that seem to be blocked, 95% of which, appear as in the following example:
    https://www.mywebsite.com/?add-to-cart=10352 Blocked (No Follow Attribute)

I am using Yoast SEO and I have made the following settings to the cart, my account and checkout pages respectively:
Allow search engines to show this Page in search results? No
Should search engines follow links on this Page? No
Meta robots advanced – No Archive

In the robots.txt file I have also added the following list of entries:

    Disallow: /*add-to-cart=*
    Disallow: /cart/
    Disallow: /checkout/
    Disallow: /my-account/

After all, I still get the same error. I am wondering if and how this should be fixed. First, should it be fixed or it may be simply ignored? If yes, how can we fix this error?

Thank you very much for your time.

    Hello Konstantinos,

Thanks for reaching out regarding your site. It looks like you want to noindex the WooCommerce cart, my account and checkout pages. You need the Yoast SEO WooCommerce plugin to do this.

If you have manually excluded the relevant pages from XML sitemap by noindexing them from Yoast SEO, you’ll need to resubmit the sitemap index to the Google search console.

Once you resubmit the sitemap index, you will need to wait until Google re-crawls the sitemap index. This may take a while depending on the website

Thank you for your prompt reply.

I believe that I have excluded the Woocommerce cart, my account and checkout pages successfully. However, this is not reflected yet on the results. I have also resubmitted the sitemap to Google Search Console, although I forgot to mention it on my initial post.

Seems like there is nothing I can do but only wait. Please advise otherwise.

    Thanks once more.

    Hi @kmammasis

Would it be possible for you to provide a link or URL to your website? Also, if you could provide us with more specific details or screenshots of any error messages from GSC (you can share a link by uploading an image on snipboard.io), this would be helpful.

    Hello again,

please allow me to make a further question. As you may have seen already we have a multilingual site. Some of the languages already installed are not SEO optimized. We currently focus on the English subdomain. I was wondering how it may be possible to disallow indexing and crawling for selected subdomains, so that for example subdomain /jp is not indexed or crawled at all. I guess that doing so via the robots.txt file is not “sufficient”.
    Disallow: /jp/
    Disallow: /kr/
    Noindex: /jp/
    Noindex: /kr/

On the other hand, attempting to do this by setting to a no index and no follow the corresponding translated pages via Yoast SEO, it actually applies this to all languages, not just the selected page. e.g. the Japanese. So when I set the Japanese version of the page to no index and no follow, it actually sets a no index and no follow to translated versions of that page, which is clearly not desired – since my goal is to only block indexing and crawling of the Japanese version. Hope you understand my point.

So I am left wondering what is the best way to do this.
    Thanks once more.

    Hi @kmammasis

Based on the screenshot earlier, you’ll have to check in the page source and confirm if some of the links do indeed have a ‘nofollow’ tag or are ‘blocked by meta robots’ and address them accordingly.

Your question regarding optimization on your sites in different languages is a bit outside the scope of the support we provide. Giving?SEO advice, in most cases, requires a deep analysis of your site to provide accurate advice for your specific setup, even for what may seem to be a simple question.

At Yoast, we want to help people improve their site and to make SEO attainable for everyone. So we offer?Yoast Academy?courses which are included in our Yoast SEO Premium subscription, several great plugins, and a?comprehensive SEO blog.
