• Hey guys!

I’m currently experimenting with The Events Calendar and came across an issue.

    • I am on a page for a specific event
    • On the bottom I click on add to calendar
    • Now I select Google Calendar or Office 365 (these are the only ones, I tested this with so far)
    • Now it opens up a new window for the respected account and shows me the preview of my action

    So far so good!

But now I see that the description is one massive text block instead of having multiple paragraphs as on WordPress.

    What’s also interesting:
When I subscribe to the calendar, I see that the description is formatted nicely, with the original paragraphs, but the links inside the description are missing ??
So here I have nice paragraphs, but it is only text. My links are not formatted as links, but plain text.

If there is a wise sorcerer to help me out on this matter, I would be most grateful. Thank you in advance! ???♂?

  • Hi @finfree,

Thank you for reaching out and describing the issue you’re experiencing with the add to calendar feature in The Events Calendar.

The behavior you described, where the description appears as a single text block without paragraphs and missing links when previewing in Google Calendar or Office 365, is likely due to how these external calendar platforms handle the event data.

When you subscribe to the calendar and view it on your device or in other calendar applications, the formatting and links should be preserved as they are originally entered in WordPress.

The difference in formatting and link display between the preview and the subscribed calendar view is related to how each platform interprets and displays the event data.

To ensure the best compatibility and formatting consistency, make sure to format your event descriptions with separate paragraphs and include links using the standard WordPress formatting options.

Let us know how it goes.

@cheskatec thanks for your reply and info!

So is this something that will be fixed in the future or is there anything I can do to influence the formatting, so it can be displayed correctly in Google, Office, and other calendars?

Because I am already using the standard formatting from WordPress and also using standard paragraphs for my info. But is there anything else?
Can I input some manual code, so it works…?

Any help is greatly appreciated ??
