• I had to turn it off because it was too intrusive to leave on. But we have been using this plugin for some time and all of the sudden it started showing up at the top. I can’t change it or if I hide it with css it removes it from the posts.

It sounds like the site’s theme or another plugin created an awkward new “content type” area. You can possibly disable placement in that area in AddToAny Settings, or you can certainly use precise CSS selectors to hide the buttons.

If you can keep AddToAny activated for a day, I’ll let you know the exact CSS code to use (if you need it).

I tried the css but it’s the same selectors so it hides both.

It’s still doable with CSS specificity or pseudo-classes like :first-child, etc.

Feel free to post where in the HTML the extra buttons are appearing and I’ll let you know the CSS code to use.
