Basically I would like to have the thumbnail link to the src of an img element.

When adding the [+link_url+] the url I get is the one of the original image.

What I would like is to get the url of the thumbnail in order to avoid unneccesary requests on the server.

Thanks for your update with the additional information. If I understand you correctly, you want the link behind each gallery item to be the URL of the “thumbnail” size image; is that right?

If so, you can try something like this:

[mla_gallery ids=3516 link=file mla_link_href="{+thumbnail_url+}"]

I have used ids=3516 to select a specific item; you can substitute any of the data selection parameters your application requires.
