Add the_content data to archive link in sidebar

I’m new to WordPress so forgive me for my ignorance.

What I am attempting to do is:

In my sidebar I have a “Upcoming Events” section which lists my posts in the category “upcoming”.

However, it only lists the title of the post with link to single page of the post.

I would like to add text from the_content of the post under the title,
i.e.:

November 30th ( this would be the title of the post )
Bike Night @ XYZ (this would be text that I typed in the content portion of the post)

Any help is greatly appreciated
