• I am trying to discover how to add the word NEW to the front page of my website when I write and publish a new article.
Is there a tag, or a widget or a plugin that does this?
My articles titles are posted on the far right side of my website in a separate column and I would like to add the word NEW to an article or near the article title, to indicate it is a new article.

  • What defines if an article is actually new?

Posted/published since the last time the user visited your site?
    Posted/published in the last week?
    The latest post?

They all require different solutions. Perhaps it would just be easiest to just add the word “NEW” in the post topic and then remove it (and republish) when it’s not new anymore?

What defines a “New” article is when I write and publish an article to my website. I would like to be able to denote that it IS a new article, unread by anyone but myself as i wrote it.

That would mean that since every article on your site is written and published, that would mean every article is “New”.

OK, but that would mean that an article is only “New” to someone when it’s unread by the visitor. Or should it be marked as “new” when it’s read by anyone (and so it will be unmarked as “new” to everyone as soon as anyone has read it)?

Either way, perhaps this plugin can do what you’re looking for: https://pippinsplugins.com/mark-as-read-for-wordpress/
