Mad Mimi is my email service for my site. I’ve reached out to them to see if they will be implementing GDPR compliant web forms for email opt ins. The answer is nebulous. They state that because they support a double opt in process, they are already compliant.

I’m wondering if I can use the code you provided for WordPress Comments (Thank you!) and somehow add it to my poor excuse for an email opt in?

    Any guidance will be appreciated.

  • I can see you’ve already added an extra checkbox, is that correct? Let me know if you still need any help and i’ll see what I can do.

    Hey,
I am looking to do a similar thing for user registrations using a plugin. Could you please let me know how you did it so I can attempt to add to another plugin?
    Thanks

Also, Thicketworks, do you mind if I ask what plugin for cookies you use on your site? I’ve been looking for a good one and your’s seems pretty good!

Hey there, @mtrehearn! I ended up finagling the Mad Mimi webform builder until I FORCED it into GDPR submission. Geez, what a process this is, right? What autoresponder service are you using? I’ll bet that with enough gumption you can bend it to your will…look for webforms that you can alter to include checkboxes and hyperlinked text.

And the cookie thing? Man, I hated spending the extra bucks, but I’m all about being up to speed when the GDPR regs kick in, so I went with Cookiebot. https://www.cookiebot.com/en/

Mind you, I had a developer from Codable set it up for me, because I’m not that savvy when it comes to backend stuff. Satisfied that it’s doing the trick, though. The ability for folks to selectively opt out of different KINDS of cookies, having the ability to disclose EVERY cookie that infests my site – that stuff is golden. Good luck, my friend.
