There is no documentation on the API that seems to support adding and removing user tags.

Also in the documentation it states that the user is added with the subscribed or unsubscribed status depending on the settings in Mail Poet. But in MailPoet it appears to force double optin.

We want to use MailPoet to support us with an event which would mean either adding tags to a user depending on their status (which we can’t do) or swapping them to a different list – which isn’t convenient if they then have to opt-in (for us they will have already done that on the original signup).

Can you help give me some code to add/remove tags from users?

Or bypass the double opt in?

Either of those options would make it a good solution for me! Thank you for your help

    Hi @naomispirit

That’s not possible at the momment.

There’s an existing feature request for this, you can upvote it here.

We highly recommend double optin as that will improve sending quality. You don’t want your email campaigns to land in spam folder, don’t you?

But if you’d like, you can disable double optin by checking “No” under Enable sign up confirmation setting as described in our documentation.

    I hope that helps!

I would always use double-opt-in if it were simply for this as a mailing list, but the fact is this is something we’ll be using to assist an event and will already have user consent. Since we can’t tag users, we’ll be swapping the users between lists depending on their status within the event. So reasking them for double opt-in is inappropriate in this instance.

I see now that the only way to achieve this is to incurr extra expense using a 3rd party email sending layer which is an unfortunate added expense. We will already be charged for our entire user list via mail poet I believe despite ony having a small portion signed up to this! Lots of costs creeping up – and its for a charity as well!

Tagging would have sorted out part of this at least so I hope you get this sorted. I have already requested it as a feature request.

    Hi @naomispirit,

If the list of subscribers is limited to 1000, you can use the free plan. And we have a 20% discount for charity.

Thanks for adding the feature request!
