Add Sites work, but they're Empty

but nothing is showing up there

The subdirectory sites created by WP is a virtual subdirectory not physical subdirectory i.e. you don’t create the subdirectory site from cPanel, but should be created from dashboard menu > Super Admin > Sites – Add Site.

If you already have an existing physical subdomain named buddypress, rename it. Another tack is to change the name of your site when you create it from admin dashboard to avoid conflict.

All i had to do was add a new site with a different name and it worked!!!
