Hi, I’ve been reading a lot recently that I should add rel=”nofollow” to adverts on websites. Is there an easy way to do this, or should I go through each advert code (I use Amazon Affiliate Adverts) and add the rel=”nofollow” code myself? Do you think that this is a feature worth adding to your excellent plugin?

What are your own thoughts on this rel=”nofollow” aspect?

    Cheers, Paul

    Hi Paul,

thank you for your interesting and important question!

I would also always add nofollow to commercial links.

This is why I added this feature to the tracking add-on.

If you don’t need or want click tracking and get the html code from the ad network (like you did from Amazon) then you must add rel=”nofollow” manually.

    Thanks
    Thomas

    Hi Thomas,

Thank you for your reply. Your link isn’t working above so here it is for any others that require it: https://wpadvancedads.com/add-ons/tracking/

I had planned on purchasing your tracking add-on after you answered an earlier question about tracking adverts, but I forgot to! Having a rel=”nofollow” seems to be vital so I will purchase the add-on now, knowing that it has the added benefit of advert tracking and statistics which I always wanted anyway.

Thanks again for excellent support. Cheers, Paul

    Hi again Thomas,

We purchased your Tracking add-on yesterday (under the name N. Hastings) and I’ve installed it and applied the rel=”nofollow” option but it does not appear to have affected the Amazon adverts that we display.

Would you be able to take a look at one of the pages that we currently run ads on and see if I’ve missed the code or if it simply won’t work with these types of adverts: https://www.kitchenandcookshop.com/shop/pots-and-pans/circulon-infinite-hard-anodised-cookware-set-5-piece/

I’ve not implemented site-wide adverts yet so you will not find adverts on every page, only certain categories.

I hope to hear from you soon. Cheers, Paul
