I have been trying to find a way to add a “recent post list” to a static “page” in WordPress without the use of php since pages in WordPress do not allow it.

I do realize that there is a plug in to be able to use php (I actually use it in another blog), however, I am trying to keep this blog as simple as possible. Using that php plug-in disables the ability to use the WYSIWYG for writing.

    Can anyone help with this?

    Thank you.

  • Here’s another trick. Use the Page template feature. Created a new page template and add the php for recent post list to where you want it (above or below the content). For every page that you want to have the recent posts list appear, just use that page template.

That seems like a good idea. However, how do I get some pages to use the new templates and some to use the original?

I am reviewing the following and I just can’t find the option to change templates for the life of me:

I think I remember seeing it several versions ago, but I can’t seem to find the location to change page templates.

    Anyone have any thoughts?

Okay. Finally figured it our. Thank you for the advice, peiqinglong. This will work.

The above link shows you what you need to do this. I was simply missing one line of code that made everything happy. ??

    Thanks all!
