Add recent comments to an index.html page?

I’m not sure if this can be done or not, but could really use some help.
I’m building a basic site that will have a blog component. https://www.sitename.com with a blog sections whose url is https://www.sitename.com/blog/. My question is, is there a way to pull in the 5 most recent comments on the https://www.sitename.com index page from the https://www.sitename.com/blog/ (the wordpress is installed in the /blog root)?
