• hey all,
We buy and sell used pc equipment and are growing with more and more inventory in stock, and having an issue finding them in our warehouses. We have a warehouses plugin so we know what building it’s in but we don’t know where they are in the building. Is there anywhere we can add the location in the product area? I’m thinking we can have 10 rows (A-J) of shelving and 3 columns per row (1-3) so we could just label the product as A1 or J3 and we’ll know what shelf/pallet its on and save us the headache of finding it.

  • Hi mate, a simple way without adding more overhead with plugins or extra code:

On your product page in the dashboard, along the top right you’ll see a box called “Screen Options”. Click that and you’ll see a bunch of settings. Make sure “Custom Fields” is ticked.

Now if you scroll down the product page, usually the box below Product Details will be the Custom Fields one. Just create a new field, called something like “_our_stock_location”, and input a value.

Once saved you’ll be able to select that same custom field and add a different value for a different product.

Essentially you’re adding a note to the product, and if you call the field something unique like “_our_stock_location”, it shouldn’t get picked up by any active theme or plugin. Hope this helps!
