Add product by API

Hi,

I found the documentation where I can create a product by API connection.
Now the question that I have is that I want to create a variable product with attributes but what happens if theattribute I give with the product doesn’t exist. Will it create the theattribute first automatically to connect the product or do I need to create it first manually?
