• Hi,

I love your User Role Editor Plugin. I’d like to have the Editor role I created allow the user to add the pages and posts to a menu, and also to create new menus. For some reason, the Appearance/Menus access is locked. I’ve searched the forum and didn’t see this request. Do you know how I can add this capability for a user?

    Thank you in advance,

    Kristy

    Hi Kristy,

    Thanks for the feedback.

WordPress protects ‘Menus’ item with the same user capability as it use for the full ‘Appearance’ menu: edit_theme_options.

    Hi Vladimir,

first: Thank you for this very helpful plugin and for your support!
I have the same question, but I didn’t understand your answer to Kristy ?? What does that mean? Is it possible to add this capability or is it not?

In the admin area of “User Role Editor” I find the button “Add new capability”. There I am asked to put a “name (id)” for the new capability. What can I put in there? Which ID do I have to choose there?

    Thanks you!
    Best regards

    Hi Moriaan,

‘edit_theme_options’ capability is a core WordPress capability, which exists already. You may to add it to the role but turning ON its checkbox. Just be aware that user with such role will get access to the all “Appearance” submenu.
