Add options to existent WP form

  • Hi, can someone please tell me how does a plug-in “insert” more option to an already defined form here is an example:

    The profile (profile.php who calls user-edit.php) has options until the password change field, but if you add a plug-in like Register Plus Redux you can add more options in the same file but you don’t really modify it directly (the user-edit.php is not changed).

    My question is, how is this achieved?
    How do you “modify” or add this options to a PHP file without touching the real PHP???
