Hello – I’ve narrowed down an issue with adding new users by deactivating all of my plugins, one by one. The issue only occurs when “SAML 2.0 Single Sign-On” is activated.

The Issue: When I log in as an administrator and select “Users > Add New,” the next screen only shows fields for setting the username, email, name, website, and role. There is no place to set a password. When I click on the “Add New User” button, I get an error message noting “ERROR: Please enter your password.”

Is this something that can be resolved? If not, then we will no longer be able to use this plugin on our site.

    Thanks!

The plugin removes the fields to set/change passwords, because you should not use WordPress to manage passwords while SSO is enabled. When the plugin is activated, all users are populated by the IdP, not WordPress itself.

When a user logs in using SSO for the first time, the plugin will create a username and password on their behalf, but they never need to know the password (because they’ll never use it).

I can’t even create a new user though – so they won’t be able to login to WP without an initial username and password.

I’ve already deleted this plugin, but thanks for your response.

Was there ever any resolution to this? I’d still like to use the plugin, but I need to be able to add users outside of IdP.
