Add New Post page Incomplete.. Can't post

  • After manually upgrading to 4.0 a few times, I still am unable to post..

    There are things missing… no categories, no tags, I can’t edit visibility or status.. The format option is blank

    Not only that but I can’t insert any pictures.. get an error message..

    The whole thing is a mess..

    I’ve deactivated and activated the plugins a bunch of times.. reset the permalinks all the usual stuff..

    Someone help please.

    How can you see the problem from the front end?

    The problem is in the Add New post page on the backend?

    Here’s a link to a screen shot… as you can see the add categories and tags are gone.. its pretty much blank..

    doesn’t save draft and doesn’t post…

    and I also can’t add any images..

    I know sharing the link is not the perfect solution and will not be possible to see the backend. However, sometimes by looking at the source code a clue might be available which might help others to give suggestion/advice.

    I know this might sound silly for me to ask:
    is the box checked off for categories and tags in the screen options area?
    are you logged in as adminstrator or some other role?
    could there be something strange in the settings area?

    I don’t see how you can tell anything about the add post page from the front end..

    Anyone else? It seems that a lot of people have this problem.. and I’m not hearing anything except plugins…

    Why ask people to upgrade if it destroys your site??

    Categories and Tags are even IN the screen options area… as I said these things are missing… its incomplete..

    Posts that exist however it appears..

    I’m guessing – some files maybe didn’t transfer correctly, it happened to me with FileZilla a couple of times. You can try to delete (make a back up before first) and transfer the fresh WP files again through different FTP client.
