First off, thank you for the plugin. It works great and does just what we need. However, there is one scenario that causes quite a headache and I’m hoping that I’m missing a setting somewhere.

When I take an order over the phone, at times customers who qualify for free shipping want it sent overnight. This disqualifies them and when I am entering the order manually (via “WooCommerce Phone Orders & Manual Orders” plugin), I enter a cost for the overnight shipping (to override the free shipping). I submit the cost, but it never offers that up as an option. Is there a way as an admin to override the free shipping and actually charge the customer? To date, I have to enter the transaction through my credit card terminal separately, push the order through as a hold order, then manually edit the order to correct the shipping. I’m hoping there’s a better way though.

    Thanks!
    Matt

    Hi Matt,

Unfortunately I’m not familiar with the manual orders plugin you’re using, so I’m not able to provide some advise based on that.

With the WC Core manually adding orders you are able to select any of the shipping methods and enter any shipping cost, but it doesn’t sound like this is the best route for you.

Maybe you’re using the ‘hide other rates when free is available’ option and that is preventing other (overnight) options from appearing? If this is the case, maybe a custom script to hide the paid rates would be possible where you can easily add a override to prevent that as well.

    Cheers,
    Jeroen

    Jeroen,

Thanks for the reply. Yes, you are correct. I have the “hide other rates when free is available” option inside advanced free shipping checked. Having a custom script is perhaps an option. Would I need to uncheck that box (hide other rates when free shipping is available) and then create a script that does just that, but ignores it when an admin is logged in (they would be the only ones entering orders manually)?

I had to turn off other rates b/c customers were still selecting paid shipping when free was available and then complaining about it. However, this small nuance causes an issue for us on the backend when manually entering orders through that plugin.

    Thanks,
    Matt
