George, I’m just reporting on the issue in Add Meta Tag as you asked me to do in the support forum and already acknowledged is a bug in the plugin.

In the picture box on the WordPress posting on Facebook, if there is nothing in the Global Keywords field, it will leave a line that says “tagged” and then it’s followed by putting the category the blog falls under twice. Below is the example that you already acknowledged through email with me. I just wanted to track it here as you said you were going to fix it in the next version.

I was wondering if that area could be completely blank after the name part. Does the word “tagged” and the category have to even be there…

    The example:

Hi, the issue has been fixed in the upcoming release, which will be out soon.

“tagged” will be there as long as “article:tag” meta tags exist on your page. “in <categories>” will be there as long as “article:section” meta tags exist on the page.

Since this has been fixed in the development version, I’m marking the topic as resolved.

George, does that mean in your new version that on the metadata settings page that there’s going to be a place to either place or not place the article:tag and article:section ? I don’t believe I’m currently putting that in anywhere on my page other than I do have a category for each blog article? But I don’t believe I’m purposely populating those?

The issue is that both an ‘article:tag’ and an ‘article:section’ meta tag is generated for each category. Normally one ‘article:section’ meta tag for each one of the post’s categories should be generated.

This bug has been fixed. Everything else stays the same.

Just curious, but is there a way to remove the word “Tagged” and change it to something else and/or not even have those meta tags appear in that box or is that a Facebook requirement?

Andrew, please ask Facebook about things related to Facebook.

George, I have no idea whether this is a Facebook thing or not. The fact that you said you found a bug and populating it twice by accident in that box and have since corrected it prompted me to figure it is something you are in control of? So I’m assuming then you are saying that how that appears on Facebook including using the word tagged is their issue. Sadly, no one answers the Facebook forums. I have sent several questions to them awhile ago and yet to even get a single response. This I why i am asking in WordPress the questions and if the answer is simply its how Facebook processes it, that’s all I was asking and that could have been the easiest response. ?? I’m just trying to get a feel for what is in WordPress’s control and what is in Facebook’s control. For a person with no web programming experience and no wordpress understanding other than to point and click things, this is the only way I know how to get answers.

So I’m assuming then you are saying that how that appears on Facebook including using the word tagged is their issue.

Andrew, of course, since you see this on Facebook and not in the metadata generated by the plugin, this has to do with how Facebook displays the data found in ‘article:section’ and ‘article:tag’ meta tags.

The response to your question might be easy, but you should not be asking me about this in the first place. It clearly has to do with Facebook and the way it displays shared items. Please do your own research. That would be much appreciated.

I’m just trying to get a feel for what is in WordPress’s control and what is in Facebook’s control.

There is really nothing I can do. Just imagine every user expecting such kind of support from me. I’d instantly quit doing Add-Meta-Tags. ??

Andrew, I’m sorry about not being able to spend more time with this. I hope you understand.

    Kind Regards,
    George

However, such general questions could certainly be asked in the main forums here on www.remarpro.com, eg Miscellaneous Forum. Whenever I have the time I also reply to questions in those forums in order to help people. Many other members do the same.
