add media gallery custom field

Hi i am creating a plugin with a custom post type that needs the custom field “add gallery”, my current version is using the “wp_editor” function to create a wysiwyg editor with a “add media” button which enables me to add a gallery to the field and show it on my blog.

My question is, can i create a button with the same functionality of adding and editing a gallery, without the whole wysiwyg editor? My google search only yelded results with single image uploads.
