Add Logo Banner?

Hi folks, really hope I can find some help. I have tried 2 different but similar “News” templates and have ran into the same problem with both…no support whatsoever.

I would like to add a full size banner in the area shown in the pic. It would be nice to know also how to put 2 small adsense ads either directly above or below my banner? I would like my banner to span the whole cell.

Here is a new pic highlighting the area and code. 24 is the full width of the existing banner that contains my logo and the adsense. They are defined as one half or 12. If I change my logo to 24, it drops the adsense down on top of the search box and “advertise” boxes.

How/Where/What can I add to this to give adsense a 24 span under my logo with a small space above and below?
