Add Image captions to Archive Page

I have a custom archive page that I am using to display filtered custom media taxonomies. I’m looking for a way to add the media caption under the images. I’m working on a closed dev server so I cannot link to my page unfortunately.
I found this WordPress for beginners article that got me halfway there. It has added the media captions however they are currently displaying to the right of my media and I want them underneath. Unfortunately they aren’t wrapped in any tags nor do they seem to have id or class declarations that I can target.
How do I get them to appear under the media?
I have my archive-2.php code here. Line 37 & 38 have the snippet of added code that displays the captions.
Unfortunately my work blocks pastebin and other similar website so I cannot use those to post my code. Hopefully code pen is ok?

So I added the function that Luke outlined, in the link provided above, to my functions.php file.
I then tried to call to the function in my archive-2.php file.
However, this did not work as I anticipated. Admittedly I’m a novice when it comes to php and unfortunately the link provided doesn’t really give a good step by step to achieve my desired result. Did I understand and implement this solution correctly?
