    Hi,
I’m shopping around for a way to track my client’s efficiency of QR-Codes in print ads.
Not a fan of shortened URLs as I don’t see what’s behind it so we’re looking into self-hosted solutions.

Is there a way to enable google analytics in your plugin? I’d like it to fire an event when the URL is called.

This plugin only handles the URL creation inside of WordPress. the link itself is tracked inside the YOURLS install itself.

that said, they have a plugin library as well which includes some GA tracking. I don’t know which would be the best for your situation but here’s the list: https://github.com/YOURLS/YOURLS/wiki/Plugin-List#g

    Okay, thanks for the hint.
I wasn’t aware that I needed to run YOURLS as well – I thought it all came in one plugin ??

no problem at all. and yeah, YOURLS needs to be it’s own install, since it’s on a separate URL and has it’s own database and logins and whatnot.

There is also a yourls plugin for QR Codes – it works, but it conflicts with one of the other available plugins. I forget which.

Hey, that would be pretty cool, if you could add the functionality to print the QR code to the post!

I remember now why i posted here. The GA tracking plugin for Yourls conflicts with one of the QR code Yourls plugins. Also, the GA Tracking plugin for yourls has not been updated to work properly with the latest version of Yourls.

So several problems / barriers exist if you want to use both of these Yourls plugins.

I managed to get the GA plugin to work with a few minor admin interface changes but it would not work in combo with QR codes one.

I ended up not using either.

I do have a feature suggestion however- posted in a new thread.
