Add expired image to post title

I am trying to figure out the best way to code what I want to do. I am trying to be able to add an image above a post title when it expires. I run a deal site so not all posts are valid for a long period of time, instead of deleting them I would prefer to insert an image over the title to just display expired.

Is there an easy way to do this or a plugin for it? I could possibly move it to a certain category once it expires but I am not sure how to insert the image into it automatically when it’s moved to a category.
