I have an internal site where users can use a form (WPForms) to create a post. I’d like to add a way for them to choose an expiration date for the post so that they don’t have to use the wordpress editor. I had hoped that there is an easy way to do this, but I can’t figure it out. Any help is much appreciated.

Hi @jevaldez. Thanks for using PublishPress Future.

I think WPForms may offer a date field that can store metadata. If that’s correct, then this is possible using the “Metadata Scheduling” feature in Future Pro: https://publishpress.com/knowledge-base/metadata-scheduling

Thanks! It works….mostly. I have a date field in my form and I’ve set the post meta ( _expiration-date ) to use the value from that field. The only problem seems to be that the date is not applied unless the post is edited after it has been published. Is there a way to have the date applied without having to edit the post? The post is automatically published when the form is submitted.

    Thank you for your help!

    Just a bit more information:

I have WPForms Pro and WPForms Post Submissions. I am using PublishPress Future Pro so that users creating a post can set an expiration date from the Post Submission form. I am able to set the Custom Post Meta, but it isn’t being triggered because – I think – the creation of the post is not triggering the PublishPress Future cron job. If I go back and just open the Quick Edit for the post and I don’t change anything, the expiration date is applied on save.

I know that this involves other plugins so I appreciate any insight that you have.
