Add existing Google campaign

Please note that “Sync” for this extension is mostly to do with the product feed for listings, rather than campaigns. But we would love to better understand your goal so we can assist you further.

I have connected Google Ads account “ABC” and Google Merchant Center account “XYZ” to the Google Listings & Ads plugin in WooCommerce.

In Google Ads account ABC I have an old campaign in my campaign overview. It would be really helpful if this Campaign can be applied on the feed that I have connected with the plugin.

At this time I can only create a new campaign with the plugin but I don’t see any signs of connecting to an existing campaign. Maybe you could help me connect my feed to this existing campaign instead of connecting the feed to a complete new campaign.

I understand you want to know if Google Listings & Ads will list your existing Google Ads campaigns, correct?

In this case, Google Listings & Ads will list your existing Google Ads campaigns on your Google Ads account, but it can adjust only their budget; the audience, ad, and else can only be edited in the Google Ads account.

Since Google Listing & Ads connects to your Google Merchant Center account, could you please confirm if your Google Ads account is linked to your Google Merchant Center account?

If not, kindly link them following these steps: https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/12499498

Once you do this, try and check again for your previous Google Ads campaigns.

Thank you for the reply.

I have triple checked if my Google Ads account and the Merchant Center account are linked to each other and they are. In Merchant Center under Linked accounts my Google Ads account is shown.

Also the “old” campaign I am talking about is visible in both Merchant Center as in Google Ads.

According to this text on Woo.com: “After connecting a Google Ads account, the extension will list existing Ad Campaigns on the Google ad account in the Google Listings & Ads campaigns interface.” I should be able to see this campaign in the plugin, but the only thing I see is the “Free listings” program.

And I know that I can adjust only the budget and countries etc. via the plugin, but I would like to apply the feed to that campaign as a minimum.

Have you got an idea what might be going wrong here?

We’ve checked with the developers, and they’ve informed us that this isn’t possible at this moment. You’d need to create a new campaign with Google Listings & Ads.

So, after all these statements in the end it is not possible?

Is there any other way/workaround to link the Woocommerce feed to an existing Campaign?

Currently, there is no workaround except to create a new campaign with GL&A.

However, it would be great to have you add your ideas as a feature request, which is where developers go to look for future plugin features and improvements.

Happy to clarify further. Per the documentation, the plugin will list existing Ad campaigns. For existing campaigns synced from the ad account, only the budget amount can be adjusted within Google Listings & Ads. The target audience, ad, etc, can only be modified in Google Ads.

From what I gather, your inquiry is about a pre-existing campaign can be applied on the feed that you have connected with the plugin. This isn’t possible at this moment.

1. The plugin will list?existing?Ad campaigns.

I confirm the extension lists existing Google ads campaigns. For that to happen, you’d have to complete the ad onboarding: a quick way to do this is to “Add paid campaign” from the plugin’s dashboard in Marketing > Google Listings & Ads. You can pause the campaign after creation if you don’t want it to run. Once a campaign is added, it’ll complete the ads onboarding and list the existing Google Ads on the connected account.

This is due to not completing the ads onboarding – following the above recommendation will resolve that.

2. Applying existing campaign to feeds

While the extension can list existing ads, you can’t edit them from within Google Listings & Ads and apply them to the extension feed. This means the ads will continue to run based on the targeting and ad creatives/products specified in Google ads. The only edit you can make from with the plugin is editing the budget and disabling the campaign.
