I think something must have uploaded on my site; there was a glitch yesterday that threw the site off-kilter. I thought I had restored everything back to the way it was but the Events Calendar plugin has been showing all sorts of hitches today.

Firstly, the Events tab on the navigation bar at the top was directing elsewhere, and the url and the slugs changed entirely. I think I have resolved this, but now I cannot find the button to add a new event on the site.

Could you help with this please?

    Thanks

    Rachel

  • Hi Rachel,

That’s certainly strange and not good!

Do you see “Events” in the left navigation of the WordPress admin? If so, does clicking that take you to your list of events and allow you to add a new event post from there?

    Hey Geoff,

Thanks for the prompt response! Yes, I can see “Events” in the left navigation, but it is only offering me – Tags, Import, Settings, Events Add-Ons. No way to actually add a new event ??

    Thanks,

    Rachel

    Hi Rachel,

I’m so sorry to hear you’re still having trouble! Have you tried reinstalling your core WordPress files to ensure that you’re not working with any corrupted or otherwise compromised files? You can simply download the latest version of WordPress, unzip the archive, and upload all of the files to your current WordPress folder (replacing any old versions) EXCEPT for wp-config.php and the /wp-content/ folder. You’ll want to keep the existing versions of these folders! This will ensure that your configuration settings and uploaded content will remain intact.

(I highly recommend backing up your WordPress folder and database before following these instructions, just to be on the safe side!)

Let us know if you should continue to have any issues after that! Thanks!

I was also experiencing this problem. In the admin, under the ‘events’ menu I was only seeing Tags, Immport, Settings, Event Add Ons. I couldn’t see a list of events or the ‘add new’ links, plus categories was missing.

I disabled all other plugins, reinstalled wordpress 4.5.2 via ftp, reinstalled the calendar plugin via ftp, changed to twentyeleven theme, and the issue persisted. However, I tried deactivating the calendar plugin and reactivating it, and hey presto the problem was resolved.

One of those steps above, and I think it was probably reinstalling the plugin via ftp and then deactivating and reactivating it solved the problem and I can now see the full menu under events including add new.

    Hope this helps you. ??

nix255, thank you so much, you’re fab! That totally worked and I’m not even particularly techy. I uninstalled the plugin via FTP and then installed it via WP the normal way (I hate to download the folder and all that gumpf), activated, deactivated, then reactivated again.

Just restating it for anyone who needs it that I did not need to install via FTP.

    Thanks again ??

    Resolved.

Heck yeah, thanks for following up to let us know! So glad all is working smoothly. ??

Thank you. For me Deactivate/Activate worked. No reinstall needed
