• After a post was published, I attempted to add a comment from within the admin control panel.
From within the admin edit post, scroll to bottom of editing window and use the “Add Comment” window.

Add your comment and use the “link” button to insert a URL and then post the comment.
The published comment will show but the URL link will not show.
To repeat; this occurs when using the “link” button.
If the URL is simply pasted into the comment window, it will show when published.

I switched to the standard Twenty Twenty theme and the problem still occurs. Askmet is allowing the post. Plugins are disabled.
Can anyone duplicate and verify that this is how WordPress works?

No. You need to add your comment via the front end of your site.

If so, then WordPress is broken. The link tab doesn’t work, or the Admin “Comment” box should not be there.

Can you replicate the problem using the default Twenty Twelve theme with all plugins deactivated? Millions of other users aren’t having this problem.

Yes of course. I meant Twenty Twelve (not Twenty Twenty as I posted).
I don’t know about millions of others, but have you tried that approach described in the first post?

There is no “Add comment” filed in the Edit Post page by default. As I said, you need to add your comment via the front end of your site.
