Add categories on the fly

  • Is there a way or plugin that will let me add categories to WP while I’m on the write screen?

    In other words, while I’m writing my post I think of a few categories that would be relevant to create. Instead of saving the post, adding new categories and then editing the post to update categories.

  • If you’re using Firefox, you can open the Manage categories page in a new tab add the category and then reload the post page. Your text should still be there after the reload, but obviously you might want to test this on your own machine with a test post.

    You could, I suppose do the same thing by opening the link to the Manage Categories page in a new window in Internet Explorer, it’s just easier to open new tabs than new windows.

    Would be a cool addition to WP if you could just add categories under the list of categories on the write page…..
