I’m not sure if this is Jetpack-specific, or part of a broader built-in function of WordPress, so please feel free to move to the appropriate forum if needed.

After a recent slate of updates to both WordPress and plugins, the Add Block function in the post draft no longer shows all of our “most used” blocks. In our case, among the six blocks is immediately shows without searching, “Twitter” is consistently the last option.

However, our site rarely, if ever, has included a Twitter block in our posts. We regularly use custom HTML and YouTube for embeds (we are a music news blog), and it would be preferable to have the YouTube block there instead.

Is there a way to change what the Add Block window shows, and/or increase the amount of available options immediately shown*?

    Please see SCREENSHOT HERE

*an update over the summer reduced the immediately available blocks from 9 to 6, which in itself was a pain.

    Jetpack Mechanic ??

This is controlled by WordPress itself, so that’s not something you’ll be able to change with a plugin like Jetpack I’m afraid.

Over the past few releases, WordPress has indeed made some changes to how the block picker displays blocks. I don’t believe “most used” blocks are enabled by default anymore. You should, however, be able to enable that feature like so:

On this little screencast, I’m also showing you how to access the block manager. This option screen allows you to toggle blocks on and off, which is a nice way to control the list of blocks available to you in the editor.

Thanks for the help, Jeremy! I’ve made the change back to Most Used Blocks.
Let’s see how long it takes to populate it with what we actually use! ??
