    Hi–

Very nice theme. I am continuing to work on customizing it and was hoping you could tell me how to add a background image that fills the whole page (at 100% width and height, rather than tiling or repeating) AND also is visible as it covers the whole page on every page? The background image would only be at 20% opacity (or so) and only faintly visible above the white background which I have chosen for the theme.

    Many thanks for any help!

I believe for this function (to scale background image properly) you have to use jQuery plugins. Try searching:

    jQuery full width background

    in the plugin repository.

    Hi, Tomas–

Where would I go in style.css to change the opacity on the white background for the text on the site? I would like to lower the opacity so the underlying background image (got one–thanks!) will show through…

    Many thanks!

To know what CSS rules apply to what website element, I suggest using Firefox Inspector (a part of Web Developer Tools in Firefox) to see what styles are affecting the elements. You can activate it with: CTRL+SHIFT+I and select the element you need with the mouse. See this video tutorial about Firefox Inspector. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VcuQ2Bn5bTA

Oh, ok. Thanks! BTW, I think you mention on your website that you are available to work on modifications like this? If so, I was wondering what your rates are?

    Again, thanks!

You might try this plugin, looks like a good one:

    or this one:

Thanks. Might do, but actually for now went in another direction using background images inside posts.

Hi eabigelow, did you ever find a solution to this? I would like to know the route you went. I am also trying to change the opacity of the white text box so its more overlay rather than a solid white box over my background image.

    thank you!

Hi–sorry, no. I went in another direction.

I found adding ‘opacity: .06’ to .site { changed the opacity but of everything, not just the background color.

What was the direction you went? Can I see your website?

Does anyone have any direction to offer on how to change the opacity of just the background white color and not the who site?

    Thank you!
