[avatar_upload] shortcode is going away soon and we are working on ensure all uploads are added to a custom folder and not the wordpress media attachment and uploader.

Also there will be a dedicated edit profile page on the frontend to not just update user avatar but to do lots of other stuff like update their profile information with a drag and drop UI to achieve this.

WooCommerce edit profile page support will also be added.

    Stay tuned.

    hello
i installed the plugin and it works well when i logged in as admin.
    i used custom form to change user profile , just added this : do_action(‘edit_user_profile’,get_current_user_id());
    it works well for admin
but when i tried with subscriber account , nothing changed.
although i tried to upload , nothing uploaded.
please help me if anyone has experience in it

Do you have “Allow Contributors & Subscribers to upload avatars” settings checked?

@collizo4sky when it will be possible to use input upload form (not media library) and custom folder?

    I’m waiting!

@highfly how did you managed to use custom upload and not media library? I want the same.

@collizo4sky if you know the answer too please. I don’t want to use media library.

Currently, that’s not possible but it’s planned.

Unfortunately, I can’t give an ETA.

@collizo4sky please develop it, I really need it!

    Thank you very much!

Why is the [avatar_upload] shortcode “going away soon” And what is it being replaced with? We have a custom Dashboard page and need to place a front end upload on there asap.

    Thanks.

We are not going to remove it anymore. The only change is, it won’t be using the media library for uploading profile pictures.

How is this issue marked resolved when the initial question was how to prevent users from accessing the media files when uploading a new avatar? I used the shortcode [avatar_upload] on the WooCommerce account page. Clicking “Choose Image” goes straight to my main media library. Is there a resolution for this?

    Thanks,

Nevermind on my previous post. It only goes to the main media library if an admin is logged in. A regular user or customer is asked to “Browse” or “Upload.”

    Sorry about the rant!

@thebarkacademy so if it is a normal user (not admin) it uses the “Browse” upload function and not the media library?
    Regards

    That is correct, @biqu3
