add and image to UL for "pages" and "posts "only

  • Hi all

    I am using a child theme for twenty twelve and I want to add a graphic for unordered list LI decoration.

    I gave used developer tools, badly I suppose, and when I make what I think should be the change it only effects the side bar, but not the pages and posts?

    The opposite of what I want, ie I do not want to change the side bar but I do want to change the “pages” and “posts “only

    I am obliously missing something… help please.
