• My client wants to sell signed copies of her book online, and so far your plugin seems to be exactly what she needs, delightfully easy to set up. But, I need to add an extra field to the checkout, to hold the message that the buyer wants written in the book. Is this possibly with your plugin?

Hi, check the following documentation. Focus on the following title How to Collect Special Instructions from the Customer towards the end of the URL.

Let me know if the above helps you.

That sounds idea, but I don’t get a “review your payment” screen showing in PayPal, just a “Pay Now” button. See https://janeeagland.dev.monality.co.uk/books/wildthorn/ for the demo site, set up to use paypal sandbox.

Hi, below are part of the instructions found in the URL I shared above.

Please note that this option is shown on the “Review your payment” screen (after you log in to put the credit card details)

You have to log into PayPal before you see this option. Carry out a test to verify if it works for you.

That’s just it, it doesn’t work for me. If you drop me an email via my website – https://www.monality.co.uk/ – I can send you screenshots. But I definitely don’t see the option when I log on to paypal, in fact, once I log on, I have to click a down arrow by the total to see the details of the transaction, and still the additional info field isn’t there, and certainly not available to enter information in to.

Hi, thanks for all the off-message board support, but as far as I can tell, there is no way to get the PayPal gift message feature working with your plugin using PayPal Standard. The PayPal account I am using has the correct settings enabled, but no gift message ever appears during the checkout process. The only thing I could find that might be a clue is the following from PayPal’s documentation:

For merchants who use Website Payments Standard, this option affects only Buy Now, Add to
Cart, and Cart Upload checkout pages.

Otherwise, they just say that it should work if the setting for gift messages is enabled in the account – which it is.

Can I suggest that you amend your plugin description so that it is clear that the gift message facility might not work? The current description states that users can “Collect special instructions from your customers on the PayPal checkout page.”

Hi, thank you for your information and suggestion. The plugin developers will investigate this further.

    Kind regards

Hi, I just read the instructions and the plugin developers have added more information.

They have added the following note.

Please note that the plugin has no control over the above field. It is controlled by PayPal.

    Regards
