• Hi WordPress!

I’m looking to figure out how to, without a plugin, change my navigation to a permanent hamburger menu. I would like to, in an ideal world, have a hamburger menu in place of where my current menu is regardless of whether i am on a mobile or desktop browser/device.

Is there a way to do that in CSS that I can drop in? I’m using the WordPress Alves theme currently. Thanks in advance!

  • This is a question for your theme support forum.
If the theme has an option for that, you’re all set. If not, you might need to make a child theme. But the menu is one of the trickiest parts of a theme, and often involves Javascript, so you should ask the author of it (every theme is different).

Please consider your visitors, and accessibility. Not everyone likes the hamburger menu and it should work with keyboard and touch and mouse and screen-reader.
