Okay, so I’ve read how to add a blog link to my Customizr site, although it’s still amazingly fuzzy and not working for me.

My problem is this: I know I can go into settings > reading to set a static front page and another page for my posts go to. If I did this, how would I create the new front page, complete with slider and featured images at the bottom?

I’m lost. All I really want is a page to link to for my blog and a static front page with my slider and featured images with links.

    Thanks for any help.

  • Start with the documentation. You need to be in the Customiz’it! panel.

    Thank you for the reply.

I’ve been in the Customiz’it! panel, I’ve set it to show no posts or anything on the front page, but I want a link to a blog. I’m wondering how to make that blog so I can link to it. When I designate a page to post to, it automatically changes things on the front page.

My problem is that having my static front page how I want it and having another page designated as a blog are mutually exclusive. I’m wondering how to get them both.

Set up a Page & call it something like Blog or Posts. Leave it with blank content.

You’ll then be able to add it to your Menu in Dashboard Appearance>Menus as normal.

Then Customiz’it!>Front Page and make Posts Page = Blog (from dropdown)

The problem is that when one goes to Customiz’it! > Front Page and selects make Posts Page = Blog, the front page disappears.

I haven’t found a way around that, and that’s my problem.

If Front Page shows no posts, then I don’t have the option to designate Blog as my posting page.

If Front Page is set to static page, I have to designate that static page or the front page disappears altogether, but I get the option to set a posting page.

If I want to designate a page for my posts to go to, then I lose the front page. This is why I’m so lost and why I said they’re mutually exclusive.

Just check this first. I have a test system with following pages:
    Home-Blog-Other Menu Items

    In Customiz’it!, I have:
    Posts page: Blog
Front Page displays: A static page
    Front page: Home

Home is a static page, contains some HTML that displays after the Customizr Slider & 3FPs.

    Blog is a blank Page.

If that not working for you, then you may need to reinstall Customizr.

I see. My understanding is that the “Home” page is, by default, hidden from the menu options. How do I make it so “Home” becomes unhidden and able to be selected from the drop down?

    When I select
    Posts page: Blog
Front Page displays: A static page
    Front page: _________

My drop down menu for _______ has every page I’ve created, but not the home page.

    Thank you for your patience.

OK, simply go and create a blank new static page (Dashboard>Pages>Add New) and call it Home. That’s it!

Ha, you’re a genius. That worked like a charm.

For anyone reading this: the Customiz’it! panel will add your front page slider to any regular page, all you do is designate it as your front page.

Done. Boom. Awesome. Thank you, rdellconsulting.
