Ad Popup (new Window) when loading my Site

  • Hi guys, hope everybody is doing fine.

    I have a very strange problem. First off I am using the X theme ( envato )with Cornerstrone PageBuilder. And I had a very weak pw for a long time, while the Site was in maintenance mode.
    Now my Problem : When I’m openening my Website, It also opens a Advertisement Website. These are always different links. I tried sucuri malware scan but no results. You got any Ideas or did you have this problem yourself ?

    If there is any question about the integrity of your site, I would carefully follow this guide. When you’re done, you may want to implement some (if not all) of the recommended security measures.

    I would try disabling all your plugins and checking if the popup is still there. If it goes away, I would reactivate them one at a time until you find the one creating it.

    If that doesn’t work, I would try switching to a default theme such as TwentyFifteen to rule out theme-specific issues.

    Hi and thank you for your answer !
    I switched to another theme and this problem was gone. Could it be that the malware made its way into my theme ? This theme was also modified by me ( HTML;CSS,PHP;Java mods). Do you think this is a problem concerning the theme developers or have I been hacked?

    It’s actually possible that you’ve been hacked due to problems concerning the theme developers! Some Envato themes have had… ummm, “issues” in the past. Depending on where you obtained the theme, it’s possible there are added “features” invoked after a trial period.

    It’s unusual for hackers to only infect theme files, it’d be too easy to get rid of the hack. Without a detailed forensic examination of your site, it’s impossible to know what actually happened. If unwelcome content soon reappears on your site, it’s an almost sure sign you’ve been hacked and it was not removed by switching themes. Then you need to work completely through Geoffrey’s guide.

    If you have no further issues, consider yourself lucky and just consider invoking some of those security measures.

    If this is happening only with your website then ask your HOSTING PROVIDER TO SCAN YOUR COMPLETE ACCOUNT
